The Cruising Association, of which John Bryden is a member, has a Baltic Section which has very useful meetings, wepages, newsletter etc run by Graham and Fay Cattell.  Vladimir Ivankov is the HLR (Local Representative) for St Petersburg, and there are many HLRs in the Baltic and Scandinavia generally. CA also has discount arrangements with many suppliers etc

“Cruising the Gulags” by Michael L Frankel, Sabra, 2007. An account of an American sailor who went round Norway clockwise and through Russia in 1994 with a Dutch fleet and the Arkhangelsk sailing club, celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Russian Fleet and the 400th anniversary of dutchman William Barents expedition to Northern Russia. Now very out of date, but good background.
